O Christmas tree

Years ago we strove for an elegant Christmas tree; that was before we had kids. Kids bring home hand made ornaments. Bright, multi-colored ornaments. Now we have a bright multi-colored Christmas tree so all those kids' ornaments match. It works - we actually like the overall look of the tree. It's fun! It's kitchy! It's green - we have upgraded to LED lights set on timers. The kids *like* to help decorate the tree - they pick out their favorite ornaments: the ones they made, the ones with their pictures in them, the ones that are their favorite characters (robots, unite!).

Looks nice. Your description makes me think of pulling out the styrofoam gingerbread ornaments, the plastic pointy bulbs with little scenes in them (a few characters missing, perhaps)...sorting colored tips of the twisted, metal branches of the artificial tree. Can you smell the attic-cold cardboard?

I saw that old styrofoam gingerbread ornament as part of a bag full at the thrift store! Some one else had one, too!
As Jim doesn't have the same fond memories of it as I do it stayed there. :-)
